10 EASY Home Hacks that will ELEVATE Your Home | Affordable + Renter Friendly!
Creating a stylish and functional living space is possible, even for renters on a budget. Here are ten easy home hacks that can transform your home without breaking the bank or violating your lease!
1. Outdoor Lighting Solutions
If you have an outdoor space but lack functional lighting, consider using a socket-to-plug adapter. By removing your existing bulb and replacing it with this handy adapter, you can easily plug in string lights or seasonal decorations. It’s affordable and adds charm to patios or balconies.
2. Faux Stained Glass Window Decals
Enhance the character of plain windows with faux stained glass decals or decorative window tints. They’re renter-friendly, easy to apply, and remove. Add privacy without sacrificing natural light—perfect for bathrooms or bedrooms.
3. Camouflaging Outlets and Vents
Unsightly outlets can distract from your decor. Match the paint of your outlets and vent covers to your wall color for a seamless look. Alternatively, replace them with stylish covers or spray paint them for a pop of color.
4. Transforming Ceiling Fans
Improve the aesthetics of your ceiling fan by replacing old glass shades. A simple change can make a significant impact. You might also consider asking your landlord to approve a spray paint update on the fan’s metal elements for a more cohesive design.
5. Use of Electric Candles
For a safer alternative to traditional candles, electric candles offer ambiance without the risk of fire. Available in various styles and sizes, they are perfect for dining settings or as decorative elements on shelves.
6. Caution with Peel and Stick Tiles
Peel and stick tiles can be a quick fix for kitchen backsplashes, but be warned—they might leave behind residue when removed. Consider using them in lower-traffic areas or follow a method using a shower curtain to minimize potential adhesive damage.
7. Creative Use of Contact Paper
Elevate your furniture or countertops using contact paper or peel-and-stick wallpaper. This easy-to-apply material can mimic expensive materials like wood grain or marble, transforming old items into stylish fixtures.
8. Innovative Curtain Solutions
Struggling to hang curtains? Try track curtains from affordable stores like IKEA, which allow for easy installation and elegant designs. Alternatively, ceiling-mounted brackets provide a modern twist without complicating your decor.
9. Battery-Powered Light Bulbs
Enhance spaces lacking outlets with battery-operated light bulbs. They can fit into any lamp and provide adjustable brightness through a remote control—ideal for adding light where it’s most needed.
10. Socket Splitters for Extra Light
To achieve a brighter room, use a socket splitter to accommodate multiple bulbs in one socket. This hack is straightforward and effective, ensuring your spaces feel more inviting and well-lit.
Bonus Tip: Thrifting for Unique Finds
Want unique decor items on a budget? Thrift stores are treasure troves of vintage lamps and furniture. Look for pieces that can be easily restored or repurposed to fit your style.
With these simple hacks, you can enhance any living space without spending a fortune or sacrificing your rental agreement. Enjoy transforming your home into a beautiful and functional haven!

All of this is doable and gold. You are an eloquent and smart cookie!
You remind me so much of Drew Bareymore
Most landlords won't mind if you know how to install the peel and stick tile and it's an upgrade from what was there before so you might not have to pull it up. So ask first but I really wouldn't recommend putting it on top of plastic just my opinion
You can use a hair dryer with a metal scraper I want to remove the tiles if you're going to put a sheet of plastic down just be aware that the tiles stuck to the plastic not the floor so if you don't have the tile in a tight tight area it might shift and move around because of the plastic
Omg your so assume I love your ideas great ideas
Great 😊
Thanks!!!!!!
You have a cute little quirk going on. I was picturing you as a bobble head doll stuck onto a dashboard. It isn’t just your head that bobs, your shoulders roll as well. Put all that together with the way one side of your mouth curves slightly upward and I couldn’t focus on anything else! Too cute but I don’t know one word of what you said, too distracting, lol.
WD-40 takes the sticky off so easy!!
Awesome helpful hints. Thank you. ❤
Fyi, to remove candle wax from cloth, cover the area where wax was spilled with an old cloth and iron it. Works everytime.
I'm already loving you! The outdoor light hack is brilliant! I'm subscribing to your channel!
I live without a balcony, but have enough outdoor space for a small chair and table, this is a forever cute idea!

Would never use removable paint in case it doesn’t come off. It looked like it took a lot of effort to remove off the brick and that was only after a few minutes.
We had a model home that the garage was the office so they had seal and stick carpet. It was terrible. We never got that glue off that floor. Sanders didn’t touch it.
Habitat for humanity has the globes for ceiling fans for $3.00 or less.
Girl I thought I’d seen it all but you gave me 4 tips I hadn’t even heard before! Thanks, way to go! I’m going subscribe from just 1 video!
Too bad your landlord didn't let you keep tge peel and stick tile in your kitchen. I'm sure it looked way better than what was there before! Great ideas! Iv used several in the past in my home!
These ideas are so creative!
I don't ordinarily watch these videos to the end, but I enjoyed listening to your voice and you gave new and excellent tips, thanks ❤
I just bought a multi pack of bulbs in Costco Australia that has a switch that changes it from warm yellow to natural daylight. I can't control the wattage but it is multifunctional in that I can choose the setting before changing the light bulb.
I don't know how your Crayola washable paint would affect brick. I've always read that you should only use paint made for brick on brick.

The remote control light bulbs are also great when there's a power outage.
Thank you for the great ideas 😃
@Alli DIY also suggests using that cheap peel and stick white wallpaper as an under layer for wall tiles. It holds still, but comes off pretty nicely when removing time comes along. @Engineer your Space used double sided tape for the same idea. All in all there's always a get around for temporary wall and floor tiles, and the shower curtain idea is great way of getting your bond back. 😀
This is so helpful, especially battery powered light bulbs and curtain hanging! Thanks.
Your hair is pretty, do you use mousse?
Did you try the paper bag on top of the wax while you iron it? The bag will absorb the wax.
Your page is AMAZING!! I just found it (thank GOD!) and I’m thrilled!!! You are awesome!!!
You can flip over and paint the back/ top of the Ceiling fan blades (just one side) then when You move out you just have to flip them back over!
Some fan blades come with a different color on the other side anyway.
Also I think the battery operated bulbs is a great idea especially if you thrift an older lap with sketchy wiring and don’t want to re-wire it at the moment!!!
Loved your video! About the candle wax on your linen tablecloth, try boiling water on it if your cloth will take it, the wax will totally disintegrate, I got alot of red wax on a cream carpet once and this worked a treat with that❤❤
wow. you are so good at this. your hacks are so fresh, even the classics.
What are the exact brand of stained glass and lead lines? The link went to a different product I think
